A north Mississippi fishing spot made the cut as the representative from Mississippi.

Lake Lamar Bruce, in Saltillo right off the Natchez Trace, was listed in this article.

The magazine had this to say about the 300 acre Mississippi fishing lake:

Target: Largemouth Bass
Construction on the Lake Lamar Bruce Dam was completed in 2012, and ever since, the bass fishing has exploded. In addition to the dam work, the state added in the formation of underwater islands. It’s a whole new lake, where largemouths weighing 6 to 10 pounds are common.

There have been numerous reports from the lake of 10+ pound bass as well as other types of fish in abundance.

Mississippi Fishing is the best fishing

This isn’t the only great spot to check out great fishing this summer. But with the stamp of approval from Field and Stream, it is definitely worth checking out.

Lake Lamar Bruce is a short drive from anywhere in North Mississippi, right off of Highway 45. Or take the scenic route across the Natchez Trace. Located in Saltillo, it is approximately 5 minutes from Tupelo.

The most recent word from the Lake is that the catfish bite is good while the crappie bite hasn’t been as steady.
