Ripley girls use late comeback, big shots to defeat Walnut

The Lady Tigers of Ripley found themselves down 33-28 halfway through the third quarter in their Friday night game against Walnut and needing a basket.

Enter Freshman Amy Rodgers.

Rodgers connected on 3 late three pointers to regain the lead for Ripley and the dynamic duo of Amelya Hatch’s ball handling and Siarra Jackson’s post presence sealed the 53-42 win for the Lady Tigers.

Ripley led 23-22 at halftime but a series of big shots by Walnut’s Claire Leak, Vivian Martindale and Laney Jackson put the Lady Wildcats up in the third against the 4A power from Ripley. A strong showing in defeat by Walnut.

The win moved the Lady Tigers to 2-1 while the loss put Walnut at 2-2.
