Tippah County has Chronic Wasting Disease testing drop off location

Tippah County has one of the few Chronic Wasting Disease testing drop off locations in Northeast Mississippi according to the MDWFP.

The dropoff location is at the Walnut Volunteer Fire Department.

According to the MDWFP:

MDWFP needs your help collecting harvested deer for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing. You can do so at 26 different drop-off locations across the state. Test results will be available online at www.mdwfp.com/cwd roughly one to two weeks after samples are submitted. MDWFP encourages hunters to continue to put venison on the dinner table as well as share new experiences with family, friends, and new hunters this hunting season.

MDWFP will establish collection sites across the state for the general public to deposit deer heads for testing. Freezers will be at each site for depositing deer heads. Hunters should preserve the head with at least 6 inches of neck attached and antlers may be removed before depositing head.
