Trooper indicted on manslauhter charges, was travelling near 100 mph when involved in fatal crash

A Mississippi state tropper has been indicted on manslaughter charges in the 2017 death of MSU track athlete Kaelin Kersh.

Kyle Lee has been charged with manslaughter-culpable negligence and indicted by an Oktibbeha County grand jury. The accident happened on Hwy. 182 in Oktibbeha county.

Lee was a highay patrolman and was driving a Mississippi Highway Patrol SUV at the time of the accident.

According to court records, he was traveling at speeds nearing 99 mph without using emergency lights or his siren when his SUV crashed into a vehicle with which Kersh was a passenger.

He is free on bond.
