Multiple proposals in Congress for additional $2000 per month payments to Americans

Multiple proposals in Congress have been put forward to help Americans during the COVID19 crisis, considering the record unemployment numbers currentily in the United States.

Here are some of the proposals currently being considered:

Bo Khanna and Tim Ryan want to provide $2000 in monthly cash assistance to Americans over the age of 16 who make less than $130,000 a year for at least six months.

Families with children would also receive an additional $500 from the federal government.

Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Rashida Tlaib back the Automatic Boost to Communities Act, to pay everyone in America $2,000 each month during the pandemic, then scale back the monthly amount to $1,000 for up to a year after the crisis is over.

Reps. Don Beyer and Madeleine Dean called for additional stimulus checks for Americans, first for $2000 then for $1000 if the economy and job market dont improve.

A group of three Senators — Bernie Sanders (I-Vt., Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) — unveiled a plan on Friday that would expand on the CARES Act’s $1,200 payments by sending $2000 per month to everyone in America. A family with 3 children would get $10000 per month.

The payments would be considered retroactive as of March and would expire three months after the Department of Health and Human Services declares an end to the pandemic.
