Walmart employees to be given additional cash bonuses

Walmart announced that its employees at its stores, clubs, and distribution centers will be receiving another cash bonus next month.

“Our associates have been working at an incredible pace, they’ve solved problems, and they’ve set an amazing example for others,” said John Furner, President and CEO of Walmart U.S. “To further appreciate their incredible work, we are pleased to share another special cash bonus this summer.”

On Aug. 20, full-time hourly associates will get a $300 bonus while part-time hourly and temporary associates will get a $150 bonus. All employees working at the stores as of July 31st will qualify. According to company officials, Walmart will pay out a total of $428 million to its employees.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, I’ve been so proud to see how our associates have pulled together to take care of each other and our members,” said Kathryn McLay, President and CEO of Sam’s Club. “These are extraordinary times, and our associates have lifted each other up in extraordinary ways, and we are so grateful.”

The cash bonus is the third Walmart employee payout this year. In June, the company paid out bonuses totaling more than $390 million. The company paid out nearly $550 million in bonuses in April and around $550 billion so far for the year of 2020.
