Columbus Man Arrested After Drug, Weapons Seizure in Lowndes County

Columbus, Miss. (August 18, 2025) – A Columbus man with a lengthy history of drug trafficking is back in custody after deputies seized large amounts of narcotics and firearms during his arrest last week.

According to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, 55-year-old Anthony “Cackalie” Roland, also known as “Cack,” was taken into custody on Friday, August 15, 2025, following a foot chase and subsequent search in the 400 block of 22nd Street South.

Sheriff Hawkins reported that he recognized Roland, a convicted drug trafficker, while driving through the area. When Roland saw the sheriff’s vehicle, he fled on foot and attempted to stash items in a hedge before running between houses. Deputies later recovered suspected cocaine and marijuana from the spot. Roland was detained shortly afterward.

Investigators secured a search warrant for the property and discovered a significant quantity of narcotics and weapons. Seized items included:

  • 13.5 ounces of methamphetamine
  • 23.3 grams of cocaine
  • 4 ounces of ecstasy tablets
  • 77 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
  • 17 grams of marijuana
  • One AR-style pistol
  • One Glock pistol

Roland now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Two counts of Trafficking a Controlled Substance
  • Aggravated Trafficking of Methamphetamine
  • Two counts of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon

He is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $345,000 bond.

“This case is a strong example of the ongoing commitment our deputies have to keeping dangerous drugs and weapons off the streets,” Sheriff Hawkins said. “We will continue to pursue and hold accountable those who choose to traffic narcotics in our community.”
