GE Aerospace invests $18 million in Batesville site as part of $1 billion U.S. expansion

GE Aerospace is investing another $18 million into its Batesville, Mississippi, facility, the company announced Monday. The investment builds on $11 million allocated last year and is part of a broader $1 billion plan to expand manufacturing in the United States through 2026.

The company said the investment aims to accelerate engine deliveries, ramp up production of parts, and bolster defense manufacturing to meet military demand. GE Aerospace plans to hire 5,000 U.S. workers, including manufacturing and engineering roles, in addition to 5,000 hires made last year, according to a company release.

The Batesville site plays a key role in producing components for the CFM LEAP engine used on narrowbody aircraft, as well as parts for widebody aircraft. The investment will upgrade equipment and tooling to expand ceramic matrix composite component production, improve inspection processes, and upgrade the facility.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves praised the investment, stating on social media that the state’s momentum is accelerating. H. Lawrence Culp Jr., chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace, emphasized the importance of sustained investment to maintain U.S. aerospace leadership. “This investment is for our customers, our communities, and our country,” Culp said.
