IHL schedules listening sessions as Mississippi University for Women search begins
The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees will hold on-campus and online listening sessions April 14 as it begins the search for the next president of Mississippi University for Women, the board said Tuesday in a news release.
Sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Cochran Limbert Assembly Room of Thad and Rose Cochran Hall, and will stream online at www.muw.edu/live, the news release said. IHL is also collecting questions and comments related to the search on the university website, the release said.
Nora R. Miller, who became the university’s 15th president in 2018, announced in January that she plans to retire effective June 30, Mississippi Today reported. Miller told Mississippi Today she will miss the campus and “the smiling faces on commencement day,” but said she looks forward to spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Before becoming president, Miller served in several university roles over 24 years, including chief financial officer, senior vice president for administration and vice president for administration, the university said. She is an MUW alumna and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, the university said.
Under Miller’s leadership, the university said, enrollment increased 8% in 2025 and the school resisted a proposed merger with Mississippi State University. The university also said its nursing program posted a 99.36% pass rate last year, the highest among state nursing programs.
