Mississippi joins multistate Millionaire for Life game with $1 million-a-year top prize

A new multistate daily draw game called Millionaire for Life will begin Sunday, Feb. 22, with a top prize of $1 million a year for life, the Mississippi Lottery Corporation said. The first drawing is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. CT, the corporation said.

The game also offers a second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life. Both top prizes are paid as annuities with a 20-year guaranteed payout, the corporation said. The game includes seven other prize levels and will include players from 30 states and Washington, D.C., the corporation said.

The Mississippi Lottery Corporation estimated overall odds of winning a prize at 1 in 8.46 and the odds of winning the grand prize at about 1 in 22.9 million. Tickets cost $5 per play and go on sale the day of the opening drawing at participating Mississippi lottery retailers statewide, the corporation said.

“Millionaire for Life gives players the chance to dream big every day,” Mississippi Lottery Corporation President Jeff Hewitt said. “Winning $1 million a year, year after year, would be life-changing, and this game has the potential to make that a reality,” he said. The corporation said it has posted additional prize details and instructions on how to play on its website.
