Mississippi lawmakers file conference report on PERS changes

House and Senate lawmakers in Mississippi filed a conference report that moves them closer to changes in the state’s Public Employees’ Retirement System, WJTV reported.

WJTV described the filing as a compromise bill between the two chambers. The station said the report “includes lowering the number of years you have to […],” but did not provide further detail, according to the report.

The conference report reconciles differences between the House and Senate versions of the PERS legislation, WJTV reported.

WJTV did not immediately offer a timetable for final legislative action on the conference report.
