Note containing bullet prompts investigation at Ingalls Shipbuilding
A note accompanied by a bullet was discovered Thursday at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, prompting the company to notify local law enforcement, an Ingalls spokesperson told Magnolia Tribune.
Just after 8 a.m., the spokesperson told Magnolia Tribune that “Ingalls Shipbuilding management discovered a written communication that was perceived as a potential threat.” “Our team immediately notified local law enforcement and initiated an investigation into the matter,” the spokesperson said. The Pascagoula Police Department arrived on scene, and the company said operations at the shipyard continued as normal.
At midday, Ingalls said it had an enhanced security presence across the shipyard out of an abundance of caution and reiterated that “operations are continuing as normal as there is no known ongoing threat at this time.” The spokesperson said the safety of shipbuilders remained the company’s “highest priority” and that Ingalls was “in close coordination with the Pascagoula Police Department” while awaiting further updates.
Magnolia Tribune reported that a shooting at the shipyard in August 2025 left one person dead and that Pascagoula police arrested Curtis James Jr. in that case. The report described Ingalls as the largest supplier of U.S. Navy ships in the United States.
