Retired educator found dead after Natchez welfare check

A woman was found dead during a welfare check at a home on Melanie Road in Natchez on April 4, Adams County deputies said.

Deputies responded to the residence about 12:30 p.m., Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said.

The woman was identified as a retired educator, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said. Patten said the initial call indicated concerns for the individual’s welfare.

Authorities did not immediately release a cause of death or other details, the sheriff’s office said.
