Suspected Methamphetamine Dealer Arrested in Jones County
According to Darkhorse Press, on Saturday, June 20, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department (JCSD) in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWF&P) apprehended 52-year-old Eric Smith on charges of methamphetamine trafficking. The arrest took place on Masonite Lake Road in the Myrick community following a trespassing complaint managed by an MDWF&P Game Warden.
Smith was found in possession of approximately 101 grams of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest and has since been charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance.
Currently detained at the Jones County Adult Detention Facility, Smith awaits his initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court.
Sheriff Joe Berlin of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department praised the collaborative effort between MDWF&P and JCSD, stating, “This arrest is the result of teamwork between MDWF&P and JCSD and removes a suspected illegal narcotics dealer off the streets.”
Sheriff Berlin also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the narcotics division and urged the public to remain vigilant, encouraging them to report any suspicious illegal narcotics activities to the JCSD at 601-425-3147 or Jones County Crime Stoppers at 601-428-7867.
