Tupelo man charged after shots fired into vehicle and nearby home
TUPELO, Miss. — A Tupelo man has been charged in connection with a weekend shooting that damaged a vehicle and a nearby home, police said.
Tupelo police officers responded to a report of shots fired around Hill-N-Dale Drive on Saturday, Jan. 4. A victim told officers that after a confrontation, a suspect fired a gun into his vehicle. Officers also discovered that a nearby residence had been struck by gunfire.
Police gathered evidence at the scene and identified a suspect, who was located nearby and initially arrested on misdemeanor charges, according to authorities.
Following additional investigation, Jermaine Edmond Jr., 32, of Tupelo, was charged Tuesday, Jan. 6, with one count of shooting into a motor vehicle, one count of shooting into a dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Allen ordered Edmond to be held without bond. The case will be presented to the Lee County Grand Jury.
No injuries were reported.
