The United States and Israel launched a significant military operation against Iran on Saturday, reportedly killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iranian state media. The strikes targeted multiple Iranian military sites, including Revolutionary Guard facilities, air defenses, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields, U.S. military officials said.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks against Israel, U.S. military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, and other regional targets. Iran’s defense minister and top military officials were among those killed, according to Israeli sources. Iranian state media reported at least 200 casualties, while Iran’s government described the attack as a breach of its sovereignty.
