Abrams calls Trump’s mail-in voting order ‘patently illegal’

Former Georgia state Rep. Stacey Abrams said Saturday that President Donald Trump’s executive order on mail-in voting is unconstitutional and illegal.

Abrams, a Democrat and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, called the order “patently illegal” and said it fit a Republican “playbook of voter suppression” used over the last decade, according to a statement from Abrams.

The executive order, issued by Trump, addresses procedures for mail-in voting, a practice that has been at the center of political debate in recent months.

Abrams has been a leading Democratic voice on voting access and has frequently criticized Republican efforts around election rules, according to her public statements and campaign record.
