Blinken rebuffs Trump claim he sought military action against Iran

Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken rejected President Donald Trump’s characterization this week that he had wanted to launch military operations against Iran while serving in the Biden administration, Blinken said.

“I’ve heard that today Blinken made a statement that he should have done it,” Trump said during a speech to Republican members of the party.

Blinken, who served as secretary of state under President Joe Biden, disputed the portrayal, according to a statement from Blinken. The former top diplomat said the characterization was inaccurate.

Trump and Blinken made the remarks this week; neither provided additional details in the comments reported by their respective spokespeople.
