Authorities in Colorado announced last Tuesday that a school staffer is wanted on multiple felony charges related to alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old student. Brenda Meza, 34, a secretary at Franklin Middle School in Greeley-Evans School District 6, is accused of grooming the student over several months, police said.
Meza, who also coached the school’s cross-country team and advised the games club, is accused of supplying alcohol and drugs to the eighth grader, engaging in lewd text exchanges, and arranging multiple meetings at locations including a park and a Walmart parking lot, according to an arrest affidavit cited by the New York Post. The Greeley Police Department said she is currently wanted on several felony charges.
The investigation found that Meza engaged in continuous sexual abuse of the minor, police said. The alleged relationship began with sexual text messages exchanged in November, which included at least four explicit photos sent by the boy. Authorities say the relationship escalated in January, with Meza and the student reportedly having sexual intercourse in her car in a Walmart parking lot. She also allegedly bought marijuana edibles and alcohol for the encounter.
Over the following weeks, the pair allegedly repeated similar encounters at a local park. Police said Meza would drop the boy off at his home around 9 p.m. The investigation revealed she took photos of the pair drinking, holding marijuana, and engaging in after-school activities together, authorities said.
