Cornyn, Paxton headed to May 26 runoff as Texas court halts Dallas count
Sen. John Cornyn and Attorney General Ken Paxton are headed for a May 26 Texas Senate runoff after neither candidate received the 50% plus one vote needed to avoid a runoff in Tuesday’s GOP primary, according to election returns.
Democrat James Talarico has taken a slim lead over Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic primary, election returns show.
The Texas Supreme Court issued an order halting a Dallas vote count, complicating the final tally, the court said.
How the court order will affect final outcomes was not immediately clear.
