Discharge petition forces House vote on Haiti temporary protections
A discharge petition for a resolution that would require the Trump administration to extend temporary legal protections for migrants from Haiti earned enough signatures Friday to force a vote on the House floor, sponsors said.
Rep. Marie Gleusenkamp Perez (D-Wash.) was the 218th signature on the petition, sponsors said. The petition also secured support from four Republicans, sponsors said.
Sponsors said the petition will bring the measure to the House floor for a vote. They characterized the move as an effort to compel action on protections for Haitian migrants.
