Dr. Oz assists woman who collapses during Trump speech in Kentucky

Dr. Mehmet Oz responded quickly Wednesday after a woman collapsed during President Donald Trump’s speech at Verst Logistics in Hebron, Kentucky. About halfway through Trump’s remarks, an older woman behind the president’s riser appeared to need medical attention.

Trump paused his speech and asked the crowd, “Do we have a doctor in the house? Take your time, please.” Emergency medical personnel, including Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Oz, arrived to assist the woman. Trump praised the first responders, saying, “First responders are incredible,” as he watched them care for her.

The president then asked if a song could be played to fill the time. “Do you think the people backstage are listening to me?” Trump said, suggesting “Ave Maria” as a possible choice. The song was not played, and Trump continued to observe as the woman received treatment. He later remarked, “She looks great,” as responders escorted her away.

Trump noticed Oz among those helping and exclaimed, “It’s Dr. Oz! Can you believe it? Dr. Oz! He’s a good doctor. Thank you, Oz.” The event resumed about seven minutes later, with Trump returning to his remarks and criticizing California Gov. Gavin Newsom. Trump also joked about the incident, saying, “That young lady not feeling so good” was related to the discussion of Newsom.

This was not the first time Oz, a former heart surgeon, assisted during a medical emergency while serving in the Trump administration. In April, he helped a girl who fainted near the Oval Office during his swearing-in ceremony. In November, Oz also responded to a man who collapsed during a Trump press conference in the Oval Office.
