Julie Le announced Wednesday that she is running as a Democrat for Congress to challenge incumbent Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., her campaign said.
Le is a former Justice Department attorney who previously complained to a federal judge that she was overwhelmed by the caseload resulting from the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement operations, according to court records.
Her campaign said she lists immigration reform and education funding among her priorities. Le framed the run as a primary challenge to Omar in Minnesota’s congressional delegation.
The campaign did not provide further details on timing, fundraising or endorsements in the announcement.
