Indiana coach criticizes transfer’s gold cleats at spring practice
Indiana coach Curt Cignetti criticized incoming transfer Nick Marsh’s gold cleats at the start of spring practice Thursday, saying the incident was an early lesson about expectations, Cignetti said.
“I didn’t love those gold shoes he came out in today,” Cignetti said. “He learned what getting your a– ripped is all about. I don’t know if that happened to him very often at Michigan State. That was before practice started.”
Marsh transferred from Michigan State. He totaled 1,311 receiving yards and nine touchdowns at Michigan State, according to Fox News. TCU quarterback Josh Hoover is another headline transfer addition for Indiana, Fox News reported.
Cignetti, who led Indiana to its first national championship in his second season, said the coaching staff has “more work to do with this group than the first two teams” as players learn roles they will likely fill next season. He said the cleat callout was a wake-up call and added that Marsh “has really worked hard, done a great job for us,” Fox News reported.
