Judge voids Voice of America layoffs, rules Kari Lake unlawfully led USAGM
A federal judge on Saturday voided layoffs at Voice of America and found that Kari Lake unlawfully ran the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the judge said in a written opinion.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth in Washington, D.C., wrote that Lake, the acting CEO of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, oversaw the independent federal agency in violation of the Constitution’s appointments clause, according to the court document.
The ruling voided the recent layoffs at Voice of America, the news outlet operated by the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the opinion stated.
Lamberth’s opinion was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, where the judge described the appointments-clause violation in his written findings, the court document said.
