Lawmakers: Pentagon shot down CBP drone with laser in Texas
Democratic lawmakers said the Pentagon reportedly shot down a U.S. Customs and Border Protection drone with a laser in Texas on Thursday, prompting the closure of airspace near the U.S.-Mexico border.
The claim came in a joint statement Thursday evening from Reps. Rick Larsen, D-Wash.; Bennie Thompson, D-Miss.; and Andre Carson, D-Ind., according to the lawmakers.
The lawmakers identified the aircraft as belonging to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, known as CBP, and said the incident led to temporary airspace restrictions near the U.S.-Mexico border.
