Leavitt defends SAVE America Act at Turning Point event

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday defended the proposed SAVE America Act during an event hosted by Turning Point USA. She responded to a question from a George Washington University student who asked whether the bill was worth risking the potential disenfranchisement of millions of Americans to prevent what the student described as “a few hundred cases of voter fraud.”

Leavitt emphasized that the measure aims to strengthen election security. She did not specify the details of the legislation but acknowledged that it has garnered support from President Trump and other Republican leaders.

The proposed bill has faced criticism from Democrats and voting rights advocates, who argue it could suppress voter participation and undermine access to the ballot box. Supporters contend it is necessary to prevent voter fraud and ensure election integrity.

Leavitt’s comments come amid ongoing debates over election laws and voting access across the country, with the administration facing pressure from Republicans to support the measure.
