Michigan routs Arizona, advances to men’s national championship
Michigan routed Arizona 91-73 in the Final Four and will return to the national championship for the first time since 2018, Fox News Digital reported.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 16-point lead midway through the first half and never trailed, Fox News Digital reported. Aday Mara led Michigan with 26 points and nine rebounds, and Elliott Cadeau added 13 points and 10 assists, Fox News Digital said.
Michigan guard Yaxel Lendeborg logged 11 points, including three 3-pointers in 14 minutes after appearing to struggle with an ankle issue, Fox News Digital reported. Trey McKenney provided a lift from long range, finishing with 16 points on 4-of-6 3-point shooting, Fox News Digital said.
Arizona shot 37% for the game and was unable to find a rhythm, Fox News Digital reported. Freshman Koa Peat led the Wildcats with 16 points and six rebounds. Brayden Burries and Jaden Bradley had 13 points apiece, and Motiejus Krivas scored 11, Fox News Digital said.
The Wolverines last won a national championship in 1989 and lost in the 2018 title game, Fox News Digital noted. Michigan will face UConn in the national championship game Monday night after the Huskies beat Illinois, Fox News Digital reported. If UConn wins, it would be the Huskies’ third title in four years, Fox News Digital added.
