Montana halts doula funding amid budget shortfall, Medicaid cut fears

Montana halted a plan to pay for doulas who would serve birthing mothers in so-called maternity care deserts, KFF Health News reported.

The program had been a state priority, the report said.

Officials paused the effort amid a budget shortfall and fears of coming federal Medicaid cuts, KFF Health News said.
