Poll: Talarico, Paxton hold slim leads ahead of Tuesday primaries

An Emerson College poll released Sunday found Texas state Rep. James Talarico with a narrow lead over Rep. Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic primary for the state Senate, and showed Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton holding a single-digit advantage in his GOP race, the poll said.

The survey found 52% of likely Democratic primary voters backing Talarico and 47% backing Crockett, according to Emerson College. Both candidates are members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the poll noted.

The poll also showed Paxton, a Republican, with a single-digit lead in his Republican primary for the state Senate, Emerson College reported. The poll release did not include detailed vote totals for that contest in the material provided.

The survey was released ahead of Tuesday’s primary elections, when voters in Texas will choose nominees for several legislative and statewide offices, Emerson College said.
