Preservation groups sue Trump, Kennedy Center board to block renovations

A coalition of historic preservation and architectural groups sued President Donald Trump and the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees Monday, asking a federal court to block renovations at the performing arts center set to begin in July, according to the lawsuit.

The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Washington. The filing says the project would cause “irreparable harm,” according to the document.

The plaintiffs identified themselves in the suit as a coalition of historic preservation and architectural organizations. The groups say they seek to prevent the planned work from proceeding, the filing states.

The lawsuit names both President Trump and the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees as defendants and asks the court for relief to stop the renovations, according to the court filing.
