Six U.S. service members killed in Iraq aircraft crash, Pentagon says

The Pentagon has identified six U.S. service members who were killed in a KC-135 refueling aircraft crash in western Iraq on Thursday, according to the Defense Department.

The service members include Maj. John A. Klinner, 33, of Auburn, Alabama; Capt. Ariana G. Savino, 31, of Covington, Washington; Tech. Sgt. Ashley B. Pruitt, 34, of Bardstown, Kentucky; and three others whose names have not been publicly released.

The crash occurred during a refueling operation, the Defense Department said. No further details about the incident or the circumstances leading to the crash were immediately available.

The department expressed condolences to the families of those killed and is investigating the cause of the crash.
