Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger delivered the Democratic response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night and criticized the president over affordability and immigration, Spanberger said in her remarks.
Spanberger is a former CIA officer and former member of the U.S. House who was elected governor of Virginia in November.
In her remarks, Spanberger said the administration had fallen short on making life affordable for families and criticized its approach to immigration policy.
Her response followed Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night.
