Swalwell: Staffer flew to Colombia to return hearing aid to deported 6-year-old

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., said Monday that one of his staffers flew to Colombia to return a hearing aid to a 6-year-old who was deported with his mother.

“As we stand here, my staff has just landed in Columbia, and is placing the hearing devices back in the boy’s ear,” the California lawmaker said.

Swalwell said the staffer had traveled to Colombia to place the device back in the boy’s ear after the child was deported alongside his mother, according to Swalwell’s statement.

Swalwell made the remarks Monday while discussing the case, the lawmaker said.
