Tel Aviv shelters face relentless missile alerts amid Iran tensions

Tel Aviv has experienced an intense 48-hour period marked by frequent missile sirens and attacks linked to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, according to a leading security analyst.

Kobi Michael, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies and the Misgav Institute, told Fox News Digital from a shelter in the city that the situation is unprecedented. “We are facing a biblical event — nothing less,” he said, describing hours spent in reinforced rooms amid ongoing missile threats.

Michael emphasized the need for resilience and praised U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance, citing his recent video message affirming continued military action until objectives are met. As of Sunday, Tel Aviv remained under a state of emergency following Iranian missile and drone strikes that killed at least 11 Israeli civilians and injured dozens, according to The Associated Press.

Shrapnel damage from missile impacts has affected around 40 buildings, and authorities confirmed at least one death from debris in the city. The Philippine Embassy also reported the death of a Filipino national in the attack Saturday.

Amid the barrage, Israel’s President Isaac Herzog visited an impact site in Tel Aviv, calling for regional peace and condemning Iranian-backed terror. Meanwhile, Iran has announced a provisional leadership council after reportedly losing its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and dozens of senior officials in recent strikes.

Michael warned that Iran’s regime, already facing severe disruptions, may be unable to recover or re-establish control, even if it does not collapse entirely. He noted that Iran’s leadership faces major challenges due to heavy losses and extensive bombings across the country.
