Texas State Rep. Steve Toth defeats Dan Crenshaw in GOP primary

Texas State Rep. Steve Toth is projected to win the Republican primary in Texas’ 2nd Congressional District, defeating incumbent Rep. Dan Crenshaw, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Toth’s victory all but assures him a seat in Congress next year. Crenshaw, a four-term representative, has at times broken with former President Donald Trump but faced a challenging primary fight.

The deep-red district has historically leaned Republican, and Toth’s win increases the likelihood of him representing the district in the next Congress. The primary results highlight ongoing tensions within the GOP as candidates vie for the party’s support ahead of the general election.
