Tiger Woods arrested on DUI charges after Florida crash, mugshot released
Tiger Woods was arrested Friday following a crash in Florida, and his mugshot was released hours later. The photo shows Woods with bloodshot eyes as he was booked into Martin County Jail.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods was traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle collided with another car. The vehicle rolled onto its driver’s side, and no injuries were reported. Woods was alone and exited the vehicle through the passenger door after the crash.
Authorities noted Woods exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. He provided a blood alcohol content reading of zero but refused to submit to a urine test. Woods also explained injuries from prior surgeries, which authorities considered during their assessment.
Woods faces misdemeanor charges of DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Sheriff Budensiek said authorities initially did not suspect alcohol involvement, but Woods’s refusal to take a urine test led to the additional charges. He was spotted on his phone after the crash, wearing navy shorts.
President Donald Trump called Woods a close friend and expressed concern about his situation. Woods has not commented publicly on his arrest. This marks Woods’ second DUI-related arrest in the past decade; he was previously arrested in 2017 for being asleep behind the wheel while under the influence of prescription drugs.
Woods has been recovering from injuries sustained in a 2021 crash and recently returned to competitive golf at the TGL championship. He has not played since missing the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship, which took place less than two weeks ago.
