Treasury Secretary Bessent urges empathy for Trump after post about Mueller’s death

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday urged people to give President Donald Trump more empathy after Trump posted he was “glad” former FBI Director Robert Mueller was dead, Bessent said.

“I think that given what has been done to President Trump and his family it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has…” Bessent said, according to a statement provided Sunday.

Bessent attributed the remarks to the president’s post and said the post should be seen in context of the treatment of Trump and his family, the statement said.

The Treasury secretary did not offer further details in the material provided.
