Trump signs order tightening NCAA eligibility and transfer rules
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday tightening rules for eligibility and transfers in the NCAA, the order says.
According to the order, it expands the NCAA’s authority over college sports and directs the governing body to update its guidelines to cap student-athlete eligibility at five years and to change transfer rules.
The order characterizes the changes as a response to evolving conditions in college athletics amid a pay-to-play era, the document says.
