Trump to attend Supreme Court oral arguments on birthright citizenship

President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend Wednesday’s Supreme Court hearing on a birthright citizenship case, his public schedule shows. The schedule said the appearance would make him the first sitting president to attend oral arguments at the nation’s highest court.

Before the schedule was released, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday that he planned to attend. “I’m going,” Trump said, according to the White House.

The public schedule listing did not provide further details about the president’s plans for the visit, including whether he would remain for the full arguments or meet with justices before or after the hearing.

The hearing concerns the legal question of birthright citizenship, according to the court docket referenced in the public schedule.
