Trump’s surgeon general nominee says people should get measles vaccine

Surgeon General nominee Casey Means said she believes people should get the measles vaccine, according to written responses obtained by MS NOW.

Means drew criticism last month when she appeared to sidestep a direct endorsement of the measles vaccine during her confirmation hearing. Lawmakers from both parties raised concerns after Means told senators that vaccinations “save lives.”

In the written responses, Means clarified her position and said she supports people getting the measles shot, MS NOW reported.

Means is President Donald Trump’s nominee for surgeon general and is awaiting Senate action on her confirmation, according to the hearing record and subsequent reporting.
