U.S. cross-country team’s wax truck ‘Yolanda’ readies skis, officials say
The U.S. cross-country ski team relies on a mobile ski shop nicknamed Yolanda to wax and prep skis for changing conditions, team officials said.
Fast skiers need fast skis, and the athletes depend on a team of technicians to tune equipment for each day’s conditions, team technicians said.
The mobile shop travels with the team and serves as an on-site workspace where technicians can adjust wax and bases before races, team officials said.
