U.S. NATO Ambassador criticizes Ocasio-Cortez over Munich appearance

U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker on Tuesday criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her appearance at the Munich Security Conference last week. Whitaker said she did not have a response to President Donald Trump’s “very clear articulation” and international successes.

Whitaker, a former attorney general, told reporters it was interesting to be in the room during the conference and to see Ocasio-Cortez and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in attendance. He implied that her participation did not include substantive comments on U.S. foreign policy.

The congresswoman has not publicly responded to Whitaker’s remarks. The Munich Security Conference is a high-profile gathering of global leaders to discuss international security issues.
