U.S. women’s basketball player in Israel shares footage of fleeing Iranian attacks

Former NCAA and Team USA women’s basketball player Destiny Littleton shared videos Saturday showing her fleeing Iranian missile strikes in Jerusalem. The footage captures her panicked efforts to find shelter as sirens blared and explosions occurred nearby.

Littleton, who plays for Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel’s top division, posted updates on Instagram as she sought safety. She described her experience of running through alleyways and climbing stairs while bombs exploded in the distance, according to her posts. She also recorded footage of what appeared to be missiles flying overhead.

In her final videos, Littleton showed her visibly distressed state, with sweat and signs of overwhelm. She recounted hearing multiple explosions and witnessing drones flying close to her location. Her footage also captured a drone landing and exploding in the distance.

Littleton and others around her moved to a bunker after the chaos intensified. Her coach, Dawn Staley, said Saturday the university is working to bring Littleton, along with two other players, Tiffany Mitchell and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, back to the United States amid the conflict.

The violence erupted after the U.S. and Israel launched strikes against Iran, which responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem. About 40 missiles reportedly landed in Israel, according to Fox News.

Former President Donald Trump posted remarks on Truth Social, urging Iranians to overthrow their government once the U.S. and Israel complete their operations. Iran’s retaliatory strikes targeted U.S. sites across the Middle East, escalating the regional conflict.
