Vance says no headway in cease-fire talks; ‘bad news for Iran’

Vice President Vance said Monday that a marathon round of negotiations with Iran produced no progress toward a peace agreement and called the result “bad news for Iran,” he told reporters.

The remarks came amid a 14-day cease-fire in the war. Vance said the talks lasted 21 hours, were mediated by Pakistan and involved an Iranian delegation.

Vance spoke to reporters after what he described as a long day of negotiations. He said the parties had not made headway toward reaching a peace deal.

Vance attributed his assessment to the day’s discussions and did not offer further details about the talks’ content or next steps.
