Dry Creek Fire & Rescue Hosts Annual Fire Camp
As temperatures rise, Dry Creek Fire & Rescue is gearing up to beat the heat in a unique way – by hosting their annual fire camp this weekend. Now in its fourth year, the camp promises local children a blend of fun and crucial lessons in fire safety and emergency response.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting our annual fire camp again,” Chief Heath Pannell shared enthusiastically. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for kids to not only have fun on water slides but also to learn about our volunteer fire departments, EMS, and other crucial agencies.”
The camp, scheduled for this weekend, offers a packed agenda. Participants will get up close with various fire equipment, receive training in child CPR and first aid, witness a medical helicopter landing with guided tours, and gain insights into the workings of emergency services and the importance of 911.
“We provide two days of fun-filled activities, including camp bags, lunch, and snacks – all made possible through donations and sponsorships,” Chief Pannell added. This year, however, securing sponsorships has proven challenging. “It’s been tough. Our main sponsors have either reduced their contributions or withdrawn altogether,” he lamented.
Despite the setbacks, Dry Creek Fire & Rescue remains committed to ensuring the event’s success. Chief Pannell expressed gratitude to The Peoples Bank, a steadfast sponsor whose support has been instrumental in keeping the camp running another year.
For those interested in joining the camp or learning more about the event, additional information can be found on the official website at www.drycreekfire.com.
As the community eagerly anticipates the weekend festivities, Dry Creek Fire & Rescue continues to demonstrate resilience and dedication in educating the next generation about fire safety and emergency preparedness.
