Mississippi National Guard troops deploy to support Operation Epic Fury

Airmen and Soldiers from several units of the Mississippi National Guard deployed in late February to the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of Operation Epic Fury.

According to the Mississippi National Guard, personnel from the 186th Air Refueling Wing, 172nd Airlift Wing, 2-20th Special Forces Battalion, and the Special Operations Detachment are taking part in the mission.

State officials said the deployment highlights the role Mississippi troops play as part of the nation’s joint military force supporting operations around the world.

Gov. Tate Reeves said the state is proud of the service members and their families as they carry out the mission.

Military leaders added that Mississippi’s Airmen and Soldiers remain ready to deploy wherever needed, emphasizing the training, commitment, and capability of the Mississippi National Guard.
