Red Cross warming shelter opening tonight in Ripley
RIPLEY, Miss. — A warming shelter will open tonight in Ripley as cold temperatures continue to impact the area.
The American Red Cross announced that a warming shelter will open at 7 p.m. tonight at First Baptist Church, located at 202 East Pine Street in Ripley.
The shelter is open to everyone, and no identification is required. Residents do not need to call ahead and are encouraged to arrive as needed.
According to organizers, pets are welcome as long as they are kept in crates. The shelter will provide blankets and cots, along with food, water, and snacks for those staying overnight. Guests are also encouraged to bring personal comfort items such as bedding, pillows, or sleeping bags if they have them.
In addition to serving those in need, the Red Cross is also seeking volunteers to help staff the shelter. A volunteer sign-up link will be shared for anyone interested in assisting.
Community members are encouraged to share this information to help ensure anyone who needs a warm place to stay is aware of the shelter.
