Verizon outage disrupts service for thousands across region

Thousands of Verizon Wireless customers across parts of the region were experiencing service disruptions Tuesday, affecting phone calls, text messaging and mobile data, according to the Northern District Public Service Commissioner’s Office.

Commissioner Chris Brown said the outage appears to be impacting multiple areas, though the exact cause and full scope of the disruption were not immediately clear.

Customers reported being unable to place or receive calls, send text messages, or access the internet through Verizon’s network.

Verizon has not released detailed information about the outage but is expected to provide updates through its official communication channels. Customers are encouraged to monitor Verizon’s website and social media accounts for restoration timelines and status updates.

Brown urged residents to use alternative communication methods when possible and to take precautions if the outage interferes with access to essential services.

“If the outage creates a safety concern or prevents someone from accessing critical services, they should take appropriate precautions and contact local authorities if needed,” Brown said.

No estimated time for full service restoration has been announced.
