Strong storms tomorrow gives way to snow/ice later in the week

As the old saying goes: if you don’t like the weather in Mississippi just give it a minute, it’s bound to change.

Heavy storms moving in to the area on Monday according to the National Weather Service. From the NWS:

There is a marginal risk of severe storms on Monday from 12 Noon
until 9 PM. Wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph are possible with a line of
showers and embedded thunderstorms. In addition to the winds,
locally heavy rainfall is expected as well.

Those storms will keep rainfall in the area throughout the week, giving way to the potential for a winter storm on Thursday, according to Firsthand Weather.

As this upper-low continues northeastward towards the Tennessee valley, the atmosphere should become cold enough for the rain to transition to a rain/snow mix for parts of this region by Thursday.
